One particpated in Vocal and came away with a White Ribbon.
Congratulations to all of the Homeschool Rocks! members that participated! We are very proud!
April 2009 Meeting
This month, Mrs. Erica Harris, from the county extension office, came to visit our group. She was giving us information on some upcoming county 4H events and encouraging all to attend. She also shared with us a little more about the project books as well as telling us about the 4H journals, that are used to document our 4H career. The homework we had for this month was art, using any medium. The members shared some wonderful art work. They used, crayons, markers, pen, chalk and clay.
March 2009 Meeting
For our March meeting, Mrs. Donna House, from the county extension office, came to visit our group. She was there to answer questions about the project books and to tell us about upcoming events. Our homework was to come up with a replecia of a famous building. The members have buildings representing from Little Rock to all corners of the world. For our presentation, one of our members brought some eggs from his hen house and we got to crack them open and he explained all the parts of an egg to us.
February 2009 Meeting
For February, our homework was to make something with our Lego's that we could use to get a Lego man from point A to point B. There were some very creative ideas. We had boats, cars, airplanes and even a catapult! As our presentation, well, really a challenge for us, one of our members brought two phone books that were 'merged' together and wanted us to pull it apart. We gave everyone a try, then got the two biggest, strongest boys to try to pull it apart - they couldn't even get it. It ended up being torn to shreds.
January 200Meeting
For our January meeting, we were assigned 'homework'. We all had to return with a paper airplane powered by a balloon! There were a lot of ideas, and a couple of them even flew!! Our presentation was a remote control robot that was built by one of our members
December 2008 Meeting
During our second 4H meeting we did an experiment on air. First we took a suction cup and stuck it onto a plastic plate. After explaining why it stuck (because of the vacuum effect) we took a straw full of water and put our thumb over the top to keep the water from coming out. The last thing we did was take a cup full of water and put a paper plate on the top. We flipped the cup and let go of the plate (the plate didn’t fall). Afterwards we all asked questions and exchanged ideas.
November 2008 Meeting
We did an experiment with hydro gels during our first 4h meeting. We cut up a diaper and stuck it into a bag full of water. After shaking up the bag the hydro gels absorbed the water inside. We passed the bag around for everyone to see afterwards.
